Sometimes God will require something of you that doesn’t make sense. For example, Jesus said that if someone strikes you on the cheek, you should return and offer them the other (Matthew 5:39). That’s not exactly reasonable.
The Savior also said that if someone commands you to go one mile with him, you should cheerfully go two – giving above and beyond what is asked, even if it’s inconvenient (Matthew 5:41). That’s not necessarily practical either. But Jesus’ wisdom far exceeds the world’s and He often did the opposite of what people expected because He understood spiritual realities that they were too limited to see.
That’s not to say that the Lord doesn’t utilize human wisdom – He does. But quite often, He will ask you to accomplish goals that seem illogical to your rational mind. When this occurs, be mindful that God is purposeful, wise, and absolutely sovereign. His ways are far higher than your own. And He will certainly bless you as you trust and obey Him.
My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. (Isaiah 55:8)
