David was deeply anguished. Thoughts of his sinful state likely kept him up at night. His troubles weighed heavily on his soul. His words in Psalm 6 reveal his absolute dread of God’s anger and discipline. In fact, David begs for God’s mercy:
“Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long? Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.”
(Psalm 6: 1-4)
And after airing his negative thoughts and feelings, David then acknowledges that God is fully capable of delivering him from his torment.
Like David, do your troubles weigh heavily on your spirit? Today is the day to approach your heavenly Father in bold confidence. Let Him know that you trust Him with the outcome; you trust Him to see you through to better days ahead. He will hear you, and He will act.
Praise Him!
