To be deceitful means to live apart from God – the truth of God. Psalm 101:7 says, “No man who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no man who utters lies shall continue in my presence.” Outside the presence of God is a scary place to be; we have all been there from time to time. Colossians 2:8 says, “See to it that no one makes a prey of you by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ.” And, I might add, keep your truth radar on by staying in the word of God and reading the Bible.
One more scripture to ponder: “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons {and daughters} of disobedience.” (Ephesians 5:6)
So no matter how charming or charismatic the other person may be, don’t fall into the belief that you can walk away from God’s commands or commit sins that displease God. You are sure to share in the consequences.
How has the deceit of another another lead you down a miserable path? I would love to hear from you.
