When I see my friends grieving, my heart aches for them. I want God to make things better for them right away! And he often does, especially during the instances when Christian friends are reaching out to them and showing them God’s love. But we also know that lasting comfort may not come so quickly.
Christian friends will focus on the power of Christ to get you through whatever grief you may be experiencing. They know that God is working his purpose out in your life. They also know that God has wonderful plans for you, and is preparing you for what lies ahead. They remind us to hold onto our faith and learn what we need to learn in the midst of grief.
So remember Psalm 30:5 – “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
And Matthew 5:4 – “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
And finally Luke 6:21 – “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh!”
