The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. (Psalm 37:40)
If you are feeling defeated, you should meditate on the Psalm above. It reminds us that if we are obedient and trust in God, he will fight our enemies and deliver us from them. We don’t need to worry if we have been knocked down, because God has our back and the victory will be his.
However, we should be prepared physically, mentally and spiritually for the battle. This means laying aside whatever makes us unwilling to fight, such as weakness or fear. The Scriptures can give us all the strength and courage we need, and it helps to commit some verses to memory.
So how do we find freedom from defeat and rely on God’s promise to deliver us from our enemies? We can do this by taking refuge in God and by letting him fight with us in order to be victorious. We must remember to rely not only on his almighty power and his infinite goodness, but also on his faithfulness.
How are you overcoming defeat?
