No matter how many times we might have been told as children that, “Good things come to those who wait,” it is difficult to be patient. We want instant gratification.
So why wait? What is the point?
First, how about avoiding mistakes? When we are impatient, we rush into things, without conferring with God, we find ourselves going down the wrong path.
Second, how about not missing out on God’s best for us? The saying “God never closes a door without opening a window” is a common saying for a reason – it is true, even if it takes awhile for the window to let in the fresh air. So take a deep breath, be patient, and wait for God to do His finest. You will be amazed at the results! And you will then experience the peace that passes understanding.
Third, how about salvation? 2 Timothy 2:12 – “If we suffer (deny self), we shall also reign with Him.” Impatience will have no place in heaven.
So how about you? Have you experienced the fruits of patience?
