We live in a society that glorifies youth. The messages that we receive from the media are unrelenting: we are told that we must do everything within our power to retain youthful values and a youthful appearance. The goal, we are told, is to remain “Forever young” – yet this goal is not only unrealistic, it is also unworthy of people who understand what genuine beauty is, and what it isn’t.
When it comes to “health and beauty,” we should focus more on health than on beauty. In fact, when you take care of your physical, spiritual, and mental health, your appearance will tend to take care of itself. And remember: God loves you during every stage of life – so embrace the aging process for what it is: an opportunity to grow closer to your loved ones and to your Creator.
Love your life and forget your age.
“Young men glory in their strength, and old men are honored for their grey hair.” (Proverbs 20:29 NCV)
