When you are blessed to have a friend who is slow to anger, you can learn to imitate that behavior and be more like Christ. Certainly, Christ showed anger, but it was only when he saw the disobedience of someone as leading to self-destruction (not because he didn’t get his way)! The example of Jesus is really of one who denied himself on a daily basis from the human tendency toward wrath. So we are called to be slow to anger in obedience to God.
A Christian friend will remind us that in the world to come, the things we can easily get so angry about now won’t matter at all. So why waste your energy now?
Keep in mind James 1:19-20, which says “Let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.”
