Are you praying for Christians worldwide?
According to a new report for the U. K. Catholic group, Aid to the Church in Need, Christians could soon be extinct from entire regions of the world. You can read the story at http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2015/October/A-World-with-No-Christians-Report-Shows-Disturbing-Trend/
In my own trip to the Middle East about 5 years ago, I observed firsthand the dwindling number of Christians there. I also realized that in America, we get so used to freedom of religion that we forget what Christians are facing worldwide.
We are called to pray for our brothers and sisters in other countries, as they take great risks to practice and stand up for their faith. I am reminded of 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (in a letter from Paul, to the church in Corinth):
For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life; indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves in order that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead”
By praying for others, we realize the sovereignty of God in our own lives and in the lives of others.
So what is your prayer for Christians worldwide?
